VOLUNTEER HOSPICE CARE

Illness and dying, loss and grieving are facts of life. Camarillo Hospice volunteer care is for people of all ages with all sorts of diagnoses. Our patients may suffer from cancer, cardiac disease, pulmonary disease, renal disease, Alzheimer's, AIDS, MS, ALS or any one or several of many other life-threatening medical conditions. The hospice experience can be more meaningful when it is provided over a period of months, rather than days.

Camarillo Hospice does not require:
• A physician's referral
• A six-month or less life prognosis
• Cessation of curative treatment

Camarillo Hospice can:
• Enhance quality of life
• Provide support and counseling
• Facilitate individual and family growth and contentment

What your Hospice volunteer can do for you and/or someone special to you:
• Listen
• Be a friend
• Provide respite or relief for a caregiver
• Run errands, shop for groceries, pick up prescriptions
• Help with transportation
• Read aloud
• Help sort through photographs
• Prepare an occasional meal
• Walk the dog
• Make telephone calls or write letters
• Help record memories
• Share healing music
• Offer support and encouragement
