Camarillo Hospice—We're About Life!
Since its beginning as a grassroots community effort in
1978, Camarillo Hospice has been touching lives, lifting
spirits and serving the community. Through the
professionalism and commitment of our staff and
volunteers and the generosity of our donors, Camarillo
Hospice continues to provide free practical and emotional assistance to individuals and families throughout Ventura
County who are facing a life-limiting illness (acute or
chronic) and/or dealing with the grief of losing a loved
one. We offer this heartfelt support to the patient and family with compassion, respecting our patients' and clients' rights, treating them with dignity, and providing empathic care completely free of charge. It is their right and our mission.
Volunteer vs. Medical Hospice—A Comparison
There are important differences between the services offered by Camarillo Hospice, a
volunteer hospice, and the many medical hospices serving Ventura County, including
accessibility (we don’t require a physician’s referral), cost (all of our services are
completely free), and scope of services (we offer many services not available through
medical hospices). The chart below provides a detailed comparison.
From a Camarillo Hospice client…
“Hospice’s bereavement counseling program was a godsend for me after the
loss of my mother. It has provided a safe
environment in which to grieve, share stories,
and learn new ways of
coping with the death of a loved one.
Your caring and support are much appreciated.”
